First Aid got off to a great start this month -thank you to those who came along to Jane & Emma’s first courses here, here is some of the feedback received so far
“course content was great, and Emma was fab”
“well worth it, I will be recommending it to others”
“useful & relevant – Jane was approachable & informative”
The first course Paediatric First Aid and Common Newborn Medical Problems has been designed to cover a lot of the issues and conditions which can cause anxiety when you’re about to be a parent for the first time-or have a very small baby already. The course covers everything from SIDS prevention (cot death) through to vomiting, blood in nappies, breathing problems and of course resuscitation and life support. This course is led by a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and is invaluable in late pregnancy or baby’s early weeks as a real confidence boost. I have to admit even I was a little nervous when I first brought my baby home and would have found this very reassuring!
The second course on offer is Paediatric First Aid for the First Year and Beyond. Led by a Registered Nurse and member of the Association of First Aiders with 20 years experience. You are in very capable hands to learn all about how to deal with any situations you may find yourself in as your baby thinks about becoming mobile, such as falls, head injuries, choking, bleeding, burns, peadiatric resuscitation and much more.
Both courses are 3 hours in duration, held in Earlsfield SW18 and have the benefit of a babysitter here to help with babies who are not yet crawling.
Cost £75 per person (including a handy book to take home)
Held in Earlsfield between 10:00am & 12:0pm, this two-hour session introduces you & your baby to the world of proper food!
When to start? What to give your baby & at which feeds? These questions & many more will be answered in a session which is 50% theory & 50% practice in the kitchen!
A pack of notes will be given to you to accompany the session & to take away with you – so no need to take notes.
My approach is traditional. Starting off with easy to digest, pureed foods, introducing finger foods, moving on to mashed up versions of family meals.
The new Birth & Baby Skills course is an opportunity for expectant mums and their birth partners to learn many valuable skills to help them during labour and birth (no matter which type of delivery you have, or are planning), and many more valuable skills to help you through the early days, weeks and months with your new baby.
The course is led by myself on Day Two (Baby Skills) and a friend and former client Sarah Nosworthy who is a Women’s Health Physiotherapist and founder of Maternally Fit.
Birth Skills includes proven pain management skills to help you through labour & delivery including movement, breathing, visualisation, vocalisation and other techniques.
Baby Skills covers understanding your newborn and his needs, breast & bottle feeding, skin care & bathing, soothing & settling to sleep & much more.
The course is held over two consecutive Sundays at Cupcake in Wandsworth-the private spa for expectant & new mums, a lovely environment to spend some quality time preparing for your baby’s arrival.
2 day Intensive Course with partners. Sundays 9th & 16th May 10am-4.30pm
at Cupcake Wandsworth
£200 per couple
The next babyconfidence course is due to begin in March with class dates on the 9th, 16th & 23rd!
The course is all about being as prepared as possible for your new arrival – what your baby’s needs are & how to meet them. Getting off to a great start with feeding your baby & the Simple Cycle of newborn management – how often your newborn needs to feed, when he should be sleeping & how to help him do it! Consistency of advice is so important at this time – my course is specifically designed to ensure you get this & the reassurance that I’m available at least by phone to offer support & guidance when you need it.
